Yesterday was a typical Wednesday, Crefelders were all over the place serving the greater community. That is our commitment to the greater good. Every week, every student, spends two hours giving back.
To continue with Tom Little’s six pillars of progressive education. His third one is curtailment or outright bans of testing, grading, and ranking. We use a mixed method on this one at Crefeld. Crefeld students are not taking “bubble” tests and we do not “rank” our students. Students are measured against themselves, how are they improving? That is not to say that Crefeld students are not taking tests and quizzes, they are. However, as a curriculum that is focused on the development of skills, rather than focus on grades, we believe that it is about the process of learning something new.
We believe that less is more, and focus on depth over coverage.
