For most people, the second week of May is just business as usual. At Crefeld, it is Spring Mini-Course week. This is a week when the entire community immerses themselves in a mini-course that exposes them to new learning opportunities. Students self-select and sometimes push themselves out of their comfort zone and sometimes get right in it.
Where did we go you ask? A leadership trip to the California redwoods, hiking the Appalachian Trail, The Handwork Studio (sewing school) in Narberth, a music trip all over the city and NYC, a canoeing trip on Lake Placid, cooking school and coding (not together) at Crefeld, working with the interfaith housing alliance and habitat for humanity in Ambler and Philadelphia, and alternative sports in the Delaware Valley, and also a glass spring trip here on campus.
This week, the community has been sharing stories, showing pictures and talking about what amazing experiences they had last week.
Now that everyone is back safely, I can honestly say that it is the best week of the year.
