Summer Seminar 2018
Summer Seminar 2018
3-Day Professional Learning Groups Facilitator Training
For Teachers & School Leaders
Mon-Wed, July 16-18, 2018, 8:30am-4:00 pm
+ 6 monthly virtual sessions (dates TBD)
A 3-day, immersive professional development experience using the School Reform Initiative model that develops the habits and skills needed to facilitate and coach transformational learning communities in your schools & districts. Seminar will be followed with 6 monthly virtual sessions to guide new facilitators during implementation.
During the seminar, participants will learn to use tools and resources specifically designed to learn from looking at student work, to frame and support challenging conversations, and to guide improvements in teacher practice. By creating our own community of learners, we will practice de-privatizing our practice as we keep students and their work at the center of ours. Through engaging activities that support and enhance adult learning, we will practice the skills of active listening, facilitation, and giving and receiving feedback on our work. Implications for embedding social justice, critical thinking, and differentiated instruction into our work will be explored and analyzed throughout the 3-day agenda.

Crefeld Educators Institute (CEI) is affiliated with the School Reform Initiative and uses the SRI Critical Friendship model for its work with Professional Learning Groups. CEI is committed to advancing teacher practice through the development of collaborative peer groups that are well designed, expertly facilitated, and teacher-directed.
CEI is hosted by The Crefeld School, a progressive, coeducational school for 7th - 12th grade students in the greater Philadelphia region. Founded in 1970, The Crefeld School provides a challenging, individualized, college preparatory program, creating an environment for bright, sensitive, and creative students to thrive.
Seminar facilitated by SRI trainer, Beth I. Graham.
Beth fell in love with SRI critical friendship when she first learned the work 20 years ago. Since then, she’s used SRI practices and principles to grow her own practice as teacher and school leader, and to develop collaborative and reflective communities of adult learners in schools and other professional settings. Beth chooses to continue to learn about white privilege and how it serves to maintain the status quo of disequity in organizations and institutions. She loves to travel and play near the ocean. Ask her about her dogs, her golf game, and her most recent passion, building homes with Habitat for Humanity.
