Crefeld Alumna Art & Article Featured in Cleaver Magazine

Crefeld alumna, Leah Koontz, 2010, recently published "BiProduct Drag, Social Identity, and Gender Equality," an article about her recent series of artwork by the same name, in Cleaver Magazine, a new online arts and culture journal. This body of work, along with the article, explores gener roles, equality, and social construction, through consideration of drag queens, female expectaions, and the media. This series of artwork and writings earned Leah a prestigious Travel Fellowship from Moore College of Art & Design, where she will be a senior this fall. Incidentally, Cleaver Magazine has another Crefeld connection, it was created by and edited by Crefeld alum parent, Karen Rile (mother of Madeline Rile Smith, 2009), and is well worth reading.
